A boom in business. A break in taxes.
Section 179
A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van may be considered Section 179 property for U.S. federal income tax purposes. This means that a qualifying business may elect to expense the cost of the van-rather than capitalize and depreciate it-during the tax year in which it is acquired and placed in service.
For 2026, businesses may expense up to $2,500,000 of Section 179 property, subject to IRS limits and eligibility requirements. Additionally, upfits or modifications purchased at the time of sale may also qualify for Section 179 expensing.
Please note: Section 179 eligibility can depend on factors specific to your business and tax situation. We recommend consulting your tax advisor to ensure qualification and to maximize available deductions.
